Iran’s top ally warns war could be coming. White House and Netanyahu issue ominously similar warnings.
Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, the head of the Lebanon-based Hezbollah terrorist organization — Iran’s top ally in the Middle East — warned today that a major regional war could be coming soon if Iran and world leaders don’t make a deal. His warnings were ominously echoed by the White House and by Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. It’s hard to remember when these three agreed on anything.
  
USGS says Chicago's western suburbs hit by quake
Scientists of the U.S. Geological Survey say it's likely it was an earthquake that shook Chicago's western suburbs after a blast at a quarry. USGS scientist Jim Dewey says research indicates quarry blasts don't cause larger follow-up tremors. However, a quarry blast in McCook was followed by a related tremor seven seconds later.

The volcano has picked up activity again. Over the past days, the Showa crater has been producing near-constant ash emissions and several vulcanian explosions with ash plumes rising up to 14,000 ft.

The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that the Obama administration’s defense of the HHS mandate is “unsound and extraordinary” for contending that business owners cannot have religious freedom protections. Compelling businesses owners and their companies to provide services such as abortion-causing drugs and devices, sterilization, and contraception “substantially burdens their religious exercise rights,” the court wrote.  
Iranian ICBM threat to U.S. a distant prospect, think tank says
Despite Israeli claims Iran will have an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of reaching the U.S. East Coast in two- to three years, the International Institute for Strategic Studies, a London think tank, says it's "highly unlikely" Iran could deploy an operational ICBM "within the next decade."

China is to relax its policy of restricting most couples to have only a single child, state media say. In future, families will be allowed two children if one parent is an only child, says the Xinhua news agency. The one-child policy already exempts rural dwellers and ethnic minorities.

Venezuela's President Maduro moves nearer to decree powers
Venezuela's National Assembly has paved the way to granting special powers for President Nicolas Maduro. Under the measures the leader would be able to govern by decree for 12 months. The bill still needs to be revised by a special commission and debated for a second time, but correspondents do not expect significant changes to be made.  

Obama national security aide chides Israel over settlements
US President Barack Obama's top national security aide...blamed Israeli settlement expansion announcements for some of the latest tensions between Israel and the Palestinians as US-brokered peace talks between the two sides have faltered. ...Susan Rice...said the United States remained committed to Middle East peacemaking, but made clear that it saw Jewish settlement construction plans as hampering those efforts.
