Hong Kong quarantines 19 people over second bird flu case
Hong Kong on Saturday quarantined an additional 19 people after the city confirmed its second human case of the deadly H7N9 bird flu, less than five days after it confirmed its first, officials said. The 19 people were close contacts of the second carrier of H7N9 in the city -- an 80-year-old Hong Kong man who had been living in the neighbouring mainland Chinese city of Shenzhen. 
 
Iran presses ahead with uranium enrichment technology
Iran is moving ahead with testing more efficient uranium enrichment technology, a spokesman for its atomic energy agency said on Saturday, in news that may concern world powers who last month agreed a deal to curb Tehran's atomic activities. Spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi was quoted by state news agency IRNA as saying that initial testing on a new generation of more sophisticated centrifuges had been completed...  

Peres says he's willing to meet Rouhani: 'Iran is not our enemy'
President Shimon Peres on Sunday said that he would have no problem meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. "Why not?" he said in an interview with CNN's Richard Quest at the Globes Israel Business Conference in Tel Aviv. Israel and Iran are not enemies, he said. The important factor was not the man in question, but his policies, and the goal was to turn enemies into friends.

The footage was shot at the ferry crossing between Galveston Island and Bolivar Peninsula, emphasizing how the federal agency is now setting up checkpoints between internal waterways that have no relation to immigration.   

Billy Graham's health has 'declined quite a bit,' son says
In speaking to WSOC-TV at a Christmas charity event at the Billy Graham library in Charlotte, Franklin Graham said the health of his 95-year-old father, who was hospitalized for two days last month with a respiratory issue, "has declined quite a bit in the last few days." "He just hasn't been able to get his strength back," Franklin Graham said. "His vitals are good, but he's just extremely weak."  

Rainstorms Sunday, Flood Warning in Negev
Rain continued to fall in northern and central Israel on Sunday morning after a rainy Sabbath. On-and-off local showers are expected to continue throughout the day, accompanied by occasional thunderstorms. Local rainstorms in southern Israel could create a flood risk in the Dead Sea area, the Judean desert, and the northern Negev.   

Palestinians fire three rockets at Israel
Three Kassam rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip at Israeli territory on Saturday afternoon, all landing in open Gazan territory, Army Radio reported.   

Obama: Israeli-Palestinian deal possible, will be implemented in stages
U.S. President Barack Obama said on Saturday that a peace agreement between Israel and the Palestinians is possible, and would have to be implemented in stages. Both sides will have to "stretch out of their comfort zones," Obama said at the annual Saban Forum in Washington, D.C., adding that "we know what the outlines of a potential agreement will look like."  

Ukraine braces for more anti-government protests
Protesters plan to return to Kiev streets Sunday to pile more pressure on Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich after he turned away from integration with Europe. Kiev suspended talks with the European Union last month, angering many Ukrainians who say an EU agreement would have opened borders to trade, and set the stage for modernization and inclusion.   

South Korea announces expanded air defence zone
South Korea has announced it is expanding its air defence zone, which will now partially overlap with a similar zone announced by China. The two zones will now both include a rock claimed by both countries and controlled by South Korea. The defence ministry said it would co-ordinate with "related countries".  

Kim's uncle removed from NKorean state documentary
Images of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's uncle have been removed from an official state TV documentary, a disappearing act that appears to lend credence to Seoul's claim that Pyongyang's second most powerful official may have been purged by his nephew.   

Iran nuclear crisis: UN inspectors visit Arak reactor
Inspectors from the UN's nuclear agency are visiting Iran's Arak planned heavy water reactor for the first time in more than two years. The visit comes two weeks after a six-month interim agreement was reached between Iran and world powers over the country's nuclear programme.
