A strong 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck China's far western region of Xinjiang on Wednesday, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

Minor earthquake in southeastern Mass., no damage
The U.S. Geological Survey reports the 2.4 magnitude quake hit at 5:46 p.m. Tuesday and was centered about 1.8 miles below ground in Dartmouth’s Bliss Corner area. Jeff Price, who lives in Padanaram, tells the Standard-Times of New Bedford he and his wife heard “a rumble” and then felt their house shake. He said it lasted for a couple of seconds, and “scared the bejabbers out of the dog.”

“The Health Care Compact is a way for states to protect their residents from the top-down, one-size-fits-all health care ‘solutions’ that have been imposed from Washington DC, including Obamacare,” said Lankford. “The compact transfers health care decision-making authority and responsibility from the federal level to member states. Those member states are then free to implement their own health care systems without interference from federal bureaucrats, using federal health care funds already collected and spent in their state.”  
Senators Introduce Bill to Prevent IRS Targeting, Protect Free Speech
Sens. Jeff Flake (R., Ariz.) and Pat Roberts (R., Kansas) introduced on Tuesday the “Stop Targeting of Political Beliefs by the IRS Act.” The bill would protect the free-speech rights of 501(c)(4) organizations by prohibiting for one year the finalization of a proposed Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regulation that would significantly limit the advocacy and educational activities of these groups. The bill would also prevent additional targeting of 501(c)(4) organizations by restoring the IRS 501(c)(4) standards and definitions that were in place before the start of the agency’s targeting of conservative groups in 2010.

A 5.4-magnitude earthquake hit northwest China’s Xinjiang region on Tuesday, state-run Xinhua News Agency reported, citing the China Earthquake Networks Center. It added that no casualties have been reported thus far.

House passes increase in US borrowing limit
The US House of Representatives has passed an increase in the government's debt limit, after the Republicans gave up on their attempt to win concessions from the Democrats in return. The House voted 221-201 to waive the $17.2tn (£10.4tn) debt limit for just over a year, with only 28 Republicans joining most of the Democrats. Officials had said the US could breach the debt limit by the end of February.  
Erekat says Netanyahu needs to prepare Israelis for withdrawal to '67 lines
Palestinian chief negotiator Saeb Erekat is calling on Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu to prepare Israeli public opinion for some of the concessions that his government will need to make in order to reach a final-status agreement. "I want Netanyahu to face his people and prepare them for what will be needed,"..."He needs to say, '1967'. I haven't seen any leader prepare Israeli public opinion."  
Erdogan to Israel: Lift Gaza siege, or no reconciliation
It appears prospects for an Israeli-Turkish rapprochement are once again growing more distant. During a news conference held on Tuesday, Turkey's prime minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, reiterated his government's position that any reconciliation between Ankara and Jerusalem would be contingent upon an Israeli commitment to remove the siege on the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip.
