No 'religious test' in House bill pausing Syrian refugees: Ryan
U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan called on Congress on Wednesday to promptly pass legislation tightening controls on Syrians seeking asylum in the United States, but stressed that such a bill will not discriminate against Muslims. "We will not have a religious test, only a security test," Ryan, the top House Republican said in a speech to the chamber. Some Republicans have said that only Syrian Christians should be eligible for asylum in the United States.

Among the 37 skeletal remains were women and children as young as two. The dogs fed on the dead, scattering their bones. The victims had been captured, herded together and beheaded or shot. Some were buried alive.

Two federal agents operating under the umbrella of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) are claiming that eight Syrian illegal aliens attempted to enter Texas from Mexico...The federal agents spoke...on the condition of anonymity...local president of the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) confirmed that Laredo Border Patrol agents have been officially contacting the organization with concerns...about Syrians illegally entering the country in the Laredo Sector.  
'ISIS could use chemical, biological weapons against France'
France could face the risk of chemical or bacterial warfare in its fight against Islamist militants, French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said on Thursday. "We must not rule anything out. I say it with all the precautions needed. But we know and bear in mind that there is also a risk of chemical or bacteriological weapons,"  
Antibiotic resistance: World on cusp of 'post-antibiotic era'
The world is on the cusp of a "post-antibiotic era", scientists have warned after finding bacteria resistant to drugs used when all other treatments have failed. They identified bacteria able to shrug off the drug of last resort - colistin - in patients and livestock in China. They said that resistance would spread around the world and raised the spectre of untreatable infections.

Syria crisis: Assad says no transition while 'terrorists' remain
Syria's President Bashar al-Assad has said a political process to end the country's bloody civil war cannot begin while it is occupied by "terrorists". Mr Assad told Italian state television the timetable for elections "starts after starting to defeat terrorism". It is unclear whether he was referring only to Islamic State (IS) militants or also to Western-backed rebels.  
Islamic State claims it has killed two more hostages
The Islamic State (IS) militant group says it has killed two hostages - a Norwegian and a Chinese citizen. IS gave no details about when or where Ole-Johan Grimsgaard-Ofstad, 48, from Norway and Fan Jinghui, 50, from China were killed. It had demanded ransoms from their countries. Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg said there was no reason to doubt the claim, and called it a "barbaric act".  
BREAKING: 4.7 magnitude earthquake felt across Kansas
A 4.7 magnitude earthquake centered near Cherokee, Oklahoma has shaken most of the state of Kansas according to the U.S Geological Survey. It was reported around 1:42 a.m. Thursday, November 19th.  
6.8-magnitude quake rocks the Solomon Islands
A strong earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.8 has struck the Solomon Islands, seismologists say.  
FBI, New York police aware of Islamic State video, say no specific threat
There is no "specific and credible threat" against New York City, despite a newly released Islamic State video suggesting America's most populous city is a potential target of attacks such as those in Paris, Mayor Bill de Blasio said on Wednesday.  
Boko Haram suicide bombing kills 49 in Nigeria’s Yola
The suicide bomber exploded as truckers were tucking into dinner at the bustling marketplace where vendors urged them to buy sugar cane. At least 34 people were killed and another 80 wounded in Yola, a town packed with refugees from Nigeria’s Islamic uprising, emergency officials said. Later, two more suicide bombers killed at least 15 people in the northern city of Kano and injured 53, according to police.  
Anti-Apec protests take place in Manila
Large protests are taking place on the streets on the Philippine capital, Manila, where leaders are attending the Apec regional trade summit. Hundreds of people from indigenous, student and labour groups clashed with police, who deployed water cannon.  
Paris attacks: French seek to identify raid bodies
French experts are working to establish whether the suspected organiser of the Paris attacks was among those killed in a police raid on a flat on Wednesday. Police said Abdelhamid Abaaoud was the target when officers stormed the flat in the Paris suburb of Saint Denis.

Islamic State says 'Schweppes bomb' used to bring down Russian plane
Islamic State's official magazine carried a photo on Wednesday of a Schweppes soft drink can it said was used to make an improvised bomb that brought down a Russian airliner over Egypt's Sinai Peninsula last month, killing all 224 people on board.
