Ashkelon submerged in severe flooding, heavy rain
Heavy rain hit Israel Monday morning, but no city was hit harder than Ashkelon where the emergency room at Brazilai Hospital was flooded and the roofs of parked vehicles could barely be glimpsed above the rising waters. The flooding was caused by nearly 1.2 inches of rain that fell in a short amount of time, overwhelming drainage systems and putting stress on the streets, even causing the partial collapse of Ben Yehuda Street.  
Ground swallows dozen cars in Mississippi
Tests are to take place to determine why the ground opened up in a Mississippi city, swallowing 12 cars in a restaurant car park. The large gash, some 400ft (120m) long and 35ft (11m) wide, opened up late on Saturday in Meridian, near the Alabama state line. The area had suffered heavy rains over the past two weeks, the Meridian Star newspaper reported.  
US and Israel leaders to hold first post-Iran deal meeting
US President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu are set to meet for the first time since relations deteriorated over a nuclear deal between world powers and Iran. The Washington talks come amid weeks of unrest between Israel and Palestinians. Six Israelis were wounded in knife attacks by Palestinians on Sunday. A Palestinian who drew a knife on Israeli guards was shot dead on Monday.  
'Russia, Iran have signed contract for S-300 missile system delivery'
Russia and Iran have signed a contract for Moscow to supply Tehran with S-300 surface-to-air missile systems, Sergei Chemezov, the chief executive of Russian state-owned defense conglomerate Rostec, was quoted by the RIA news agency as saying on Monday. "S-300, the air defense system, the contract has already been signed," Chemezov was quoted as saying at the Dubai Airshow.
